Who are we?

ALJECO originally is founded in 2010. The first children arrived in 2015 and they are still with us. The initial phase of the organization was coordinated by Allan and Jennifer Conrad but since 2016 the orphanage is being run by Tanzanian staff only. Our funding partner ALJECO-Netherlands (www.aljeco.nl) assists us in financial and management related matters.

It is not only thanks to the commitment of our Dutch supporters who are assisting ALJECO in many ways. Also a small team in Denmark has been and is essential to us. Thanks to their support, the children are able to go to school. Also architectural expertise has been provided in the construction of the houses. We are thankfull to our Dutch an Danish friends. Without them ALJECO would not have become to what it is now.

The orphanage is registered under Tanzanian Law and our certificate (see below) is presently valid till 2030.

You will understand that we cannot present each child by name due to privacy regulations, but the pictures presented on this site will give you enough information about how they are doing.

The orphanage is run by a general manager who also is a Qualified Social worker. She is assisted by the Facility & Finance Manager. A team of four mothers are taking care of the day to day care of the children.
